Posted by admin on Jun-25-2009 under Car Maintenance

There are different things that you could do to maintain your car and keep its great shape and one of them is having it tuned up regularly. Keep in mind that no matter how much you care for your car, you will have to look for an auto service in San Diego that will allow you to ensure your car’s condition. If you are in this situation, make sure you trust only the best one to get your car back to its great condition or to prolong its life.

Car owners should be responsible enough to look for an auto service provider that will lead you to the kind of service you need. Think of your tune up as a regular appointment to your doctor and the one who will facilitate it should be someone you can trust, someone who knows everything about cars and the things that need to be done to keep it in great shape.

You can do this by looking at car directories or asking your friends about the best tune up in San Diego. You can also make a little Google and depend on the testimonials and reviews given by real people for real service providers who can satisfy your requirements.

Check the Lights

Before leaving your home especially if you will travel for long hours, it is important that you check all your lights first. In almost all countries, it is a violation to travel at night without your lights on, which of course must be at the right condition. So before you hop from one state to another or travel for hours, a day or two before your trip, check your ride for you to ensure there’s nothing wrong with your Nissan Xterra tail lights.

If you happen to discover that your Nissan Xterra tail lights already need to be replaced, immediately seek help from your car center and have them checked. If your schedule is quite tight and you want home service instead since you feel confident about your knowledge on car parts, you can buy your car brand new tail lights by shopping online, to save more of your time.

Just make sure you buy wisely because not all stores offer high-quality and dependable lights. Keep in mind that no matter how great the car electrician is, he cannot do magic to make your lights function properly if you bought the wrong light.

Maintain and Go

Traveling with your car allows you to reach your destination more easily. With your wheels, you no longer have to tire your feet in the rush with your Walking Boots and spend hours walking under the sun (or snow). And to fully achieve comfort and convenience that your car is supposed to give you, you should make sure you maintain your car’s performance regularly.

For car owners who are not very much familiar in maintaining their ride, you don’t have to worry in the dark. You could seek help from experts who can check every little detail and do something about any problem they see in your ride. Just look for an auto shop to trust and keeping your ride in perfect shape would be so easy.

Make sure have your ride checked before using it in long trips especially when going to places that you are not very familiar with. It is always better to be prepared than to rely on adrenaline when a problem arises. From the engine to the tires, everything should be checked, a few days before your travel to have enough time to repair those that needed to be. Maintaining your car is the only way you could achieve 100% comfort and hassle-free ride as you go.

The price of fuel has gone down significantly these past few months. Gone are the days when you had to spend five dollars per gallon of gasoline…at least for now. Read: for now. Yes, gas prices are low for now, but they won’t always stay low, as everybody found out last summer. And because of this, improving gas mileage should still be high on you priority list.

But what can you do to save gas? Well, for starters, go slower. Fuel economy decreases exponentially as your speed increases. Aside from going slower, try to stay at a cruising speed. Don’t suddenly accelerate or decelerate as it will result to burning the most amount of fuel.

Always check your tire pressures too. Under-inflated tires cause more drag, making you burn more fuel than necessary to move your car. Check the pressures at least once a month.

Check your air filter. A dirty filter restricts air flow, decreasing fuel economy and costing you more for your fuel.

In a traffic jam, try to keep rolling instead of starting and stopping all the time. It’s usually more efficient to keep the car moving instead of moving it from rest.

Though fuel prices have gone down, everyone should still try their best to save fuel and improve mileage. It will not only save money, it will help save the environment too.

Keep that Showroom Shine

Any car, no matter how old, will still look good if it is clean and if it still has that perfect showroom shine. Of course, it’s tough to keep that shine even if you normally clean your car well. There are ways to get that shine though, and no, it does not involve a new paint job. It’s all about proper cleaning with the right cleaning products.

First off, use a high-pressure hose or a hosepipe with a powerful jet to rinse the car. Do not use a sponge and just let the water do the cleaning for now. Then, wait for a while as the dirt loosens. After a few minutes, while the car is still wet, spray water over the car again. Then, use a very soft sponge and wipe over all of the car’s surfaces to remove the grit and grime.

Prepare a pre-wash mix, using (if possible) purified water and a car pre-wash product for perfect results. After the pre-wash, it’s time for the main wash. Use high quality shampoo, and then use a harder sponge or cotton cloth to wipe over the car in a circular motion.

After the main wash, it’s time for a rinse. Again, if possible, use purified water to rinse the shampoo out. Dry it with a chamois cloth, and after that, the car is all clean.

Finally, to get that perfect showroom shine, apply polish lightly, and then buff off. And voila, the car’s paint job will look brand spanking new.
